Overseas Chinese University the First University Gets Private 5G Network License

The Ministry of Digital Affairs’ first review meeting for mobile broadband dedicated telecommunications networks saw over 40 applications for private 5G network setups, with consensus reached on approving 7 of these cases. Overseas Chinese University obtains the private 5G network program with the “5G Metaverse Training System of Occupational Competency” and becomes the first university obtaining a license of private 5G network in Taiwan.
With the continuous maturation and widespread adoption of 5G technology, the applications for 5G private networks are extensive. Overseas Chinese University’s School of Design and Information Technology has dedicated in areas such as AI, 5G, metaverse, big data and smart manufacturing for many years. They have also established a metaverse laboratory. Recently, Overseas Chinese University successfully obtained the license for setting up a private 5G network through the relevant reviews and verifications by the Ministry of Digital Affairs regarding 5G interference inspection.
Overseas Chinese University says that the 5G Metaverse Training System of Occupational Competency allows students to immerse themselves in a comprehensive interactive experience, much like playing a game. Trainees can learn in the training system and keep trying over and over again. With this method, they can quickly acquire occupational skills.
Overseas Chinese University also stated that in the future, the training system can be widely used in education, entertainment, medical treatment, internet of things and smart manufacturing. It will has a great impact on vocational education and the promotion of private 5G network. And Overseas Chinese University hopes to use this advanced technology to educate more talents for 5G industry.
